So I'm comparing doing pull ups at home with my door way pull up bar to doing pull ups at the gym on a power rack.

At home I touch the floor so I need to do pull ups with legs bent.

At gym obviously I can do it with legs fully extended.

FOR SOME REASON...doing pull ups at home is WAY harder than doing pull ups at gym with legs extended.

Why the heck is this?

If I add a really lightweight resistance band to my home pull up bar so that my legs can be floating and extended forward, pull ups are easy again.

i think its cuz it fucks with your center of gravity.. ive noticed the same thing.

/e but that doesnt make much sense either beacause your still pulling the same amount of weight? This sounds like a question for Bill Nye the science guy.

Youre probably swinging your legs a bit when it's fully extended. To keep your legs bent close to your core requires you to exert energy and keeping your entire body tighter.

It's like doing a squat on a bed compared to a gym floor. Bed is gonna be alot harder because you gotta keep your entire body very tight for balance

Well my calves and feet are actually behind me...not tucked against my stomach. doing what you just said is impossible for me haha. can't go up at all.

prob has to do with center of gravity

see pic.

now imagine if ur feet are not straight. then it alters this a slight bit, but enough to notice.
