I'll start with a little backstory. I used to be overweight for quite a long time until I decided to kick myself into gear. I completed the Couch to 5k, did crossfit, and ultimately got down to my goal weight. Once I was down to my goal weight I got into running because I really enjoyed it as a way to keep active and overall healthy. I ran my first 5k and it felt awesome!

However, a short time after running that 5k I noticed a dull lingering pain behind my knees. Of course I jumped on google and read all about what it could be IT Band Syndrome, Runners Knee etc. So I decided to take some time off. After a few months off I decided to give it another shot. I started really slow, only running one mile at a time, but the pain continued. It's not a sharp pain or an unbearable pain, it's just a dull lingering pain that happens whenever I'm about .75 miles into my run. I've tried repeatedly taking breaks from running and trying again, but it seems to still be there. I've purchased a knee brace to see if it helps and it does slightly, but I want to figure out what my problem could be??

Is it that my knees aren't conditioned to running anymore so they're getting used to it?
Is it IT Band or Runner's Knee?

Overall I just don't know how to handle it and it's very frustrating.

Thanks in advance for any help!
