Prednisone has caused problems with my shoulder and bicipital tendinitis and just overall physical and mental health.

I've been off prednisone for the past 4 days and I've been lifting pretty mildly the past two months or so.

Current routine is

A
Bench 5 x 10-12
Incline bench 3-4 x 10-12
Pull ups Yoloswag till I can't

B
Squats 5-6 x 5
Barbell rows 5 x 10-12
1 exercise of triceps 5 x 10-12
1 exercise of biceps 5 x 10-12

C
Front raise 5 x 10-12
Lateral raise 5 x 10-12

Since I'm taking 21 credits plus independent research, I'm only working out 3 days a week if time allows. Last week for example I had 3 tests and didn't lift at all.

I don't do deadlifts because it's too taxing on my whole body and I don't do abs because I'm terrified of doing them. I started with a hypertrophy kind of routine because I felt the lighter weight would be easier on my body at the time.

Now with that being said, I don't feel that I'm really making optimal gains with hypertrophy as I don't have a ton of volume. I'm going to start increasing volume and all that, I'm curious on what you guys think.

I'm fine with my results right now, but is hypertrophy almost a waste for doing as little as I'm doing?

Are you in a surplus?

I would still squat and bench twice a week as well.

Yeah for the first time in my life I'm at 170 lbs. I was planning to keep going till about the middle of April.

if you've only got time for working out 3 times a week and your goal is hypertrophy, I'd go full body

He didn't give weights on any of the movements. Full body doing compound movements is foolish. If you max out or go for PR on squat/bench/OHP/deadlift... I guarantee that you won't be able to give it 100% to each one.

Do you want to look aesthetic or get stronger?
If it's aesthetics then why bench and what not. Bench is a stupid exercise for building muscle. It's a ton of weight that doesn't target chest as regular bodybuilding exercises.

just go out and do something in the gym.it's a meathead activity for a reason. You'll figure it out
