i have gone to chiropractors for a long time, but my most recent one was extremely skilled and worked with a lot of pro athletes
-BS in Exercise Science
-Doctor of Chiropractic
-CSCS
-Various training in alternative medicine (trigenics, qigong, cupping)
so every time i went in it was usually a movement and pain assessment, he would ask me what i'm doing in my current training, he would feel around and do his adjustments (sometimes add in alternative stuff like cupping after the adjustments), then he would give a plan of stuff for his physical therapy people to put me through..usually some combination of exercises, TENS therapy, and ultrasound - it got really interesting when i was doing exercises while also being hooked up to the TENS unit
i think i have seen 4 or 5 chiropractors since i was like 13, some of them sucked terribly, but this guy had all sorts of crazy shit up his sleeve
so, if you do go to one, be selective if you can...and, it would be recommended that you get some sort of imaging done regardless (i already had a CT scan of my spine to take in to my chiropractor, and he wanted that before he would do any adjustments)
