something said pepto can make naproxen side effects worse? wtf? woulda thought pepto would lower side effects on the stomach, maybe they are talking about other side effects?

seem weird?

"Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Pepto-Bismol suspension. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

Diabetes medicine (eg, insulin, glipizide), methotrexate, or valproic acid because their actions and the risk of their side effects may be increased by Pepto-Bismol suspension
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) or clopidogrel because the risk of bleeding may be increased by Pepto-Bismol suspension
Salicylates (eg, aspirin) or NSAIDs (eg, ibuprofen, naproxen) because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Pepto-Bismol suspension"

Pepto can induce small ph changes in the stomach that will possibly influence site dependent absorption of drugs. (Certain drugs like aspirin translocate across epithelium in acid better than in base depending on the ph of the drug itself). Also changes in gastric emptying rate and colonic movement can influence gut reabsorption and metabolism of drugs that rely on biliary excretion (typically lipid soluble drugs)

If it lists interactions on the label you should pay attention, they aren't there for no reason

because in interaction checking software - BISMUTH SUBSALICYLATE comes up similar to ASPIRIN... they talk about how naproxen will bind to the platelet receptors reversibly, and inhibit the effects of aspirin...
It basically saying that if you were to take pepto for the indication of cardioprotection, it would be useless... which is stupid anyway... the software just groups all salicylates together though so what can you do...

also mentions that both drugs inhibit coagulation, placing you at risk of bleeds in sensitive areas like the GI which will receive excess acid thanks to naproxen

Summary .......NSAID (Nonselective) may enhance the adverse/toxic effect of Salicylates. An increased risk of bleeding may be associated with use of this combination. NSAID (Nonselective) may diminish the cardioprotective effect of Salicylates. Salicylates may decrease the serum concentration of NSAID (Nonselective). Severity Major Reliability Rating Good

tl;dr - there is a slightly higher chance that the naproxen will cause a stomach ulcer... which it may already do in sensitive people anyway

Good one. Mixing those benzos and pain killers with alcohol and heavy machinery since 92 son.
