My one weakness is sweet tea. Never was one for sweets but have always drank sweet tea. I really want to eliminate white sugar from my diet, but the lists for alternatives are quite slim. Many have high amounts of fructose and that is something I want to avoid. Does anyone here have an opinion on stevia, more importantly the best extract? I've done some research and a lot of reviews for highly rated ones claim to have had ingredients changed, taste now bitter etc etc. I want to find the purest stevia while maintaining it's point.

If someone has any opinion about the healthiest alternative for sugar in general besides "don't drink sweet tea", please let me know!

as far as I know, brown sugar is technically better than white sugar, but it contains about the same about of calories. Stevia is much healthier than both when it's a complete extract and doesn't have any fillers and additives.

and calories are bad because?

your body needs calories to perform basic functions, idk why people are so anti-calories nowadays, it helps fight infections, and keep your immune system boosted.

but it'll make u gain mass

we want to stay skinny

just try any stevia extract if u want, doesnt taste like sugar but probably still causes a rise in insulin because of the sweetness

did you ever hear about the guy in the states whose kidneys are failing because he drank (a few liters of) sweet tea daily? you should try to get over your fixation, tea is cool but if you need it so badly that you're substituting daily water intake for tea you need to take a look at yourself

Some studies have shown it does increase, and it doesn't. I believe it does, but it also does not raise blood sugar levels. I don't want to try just any kind, I want it to be pure, free on additives, and to taste correct. I've grown stevia before, It taste pretty good. Climate here hasn't allowed me to grow any recently.

It's not that I'm concerned with calories per say, it's more what sugars do to the body. Sugar is pretty unhealthy, and I only consume it when drinking tea. I've seen how the body acts when people eliminate sugar and that's why I'm aiming for. I'm debating on using raw honey if I can not come across a reliable stevia product.

Easy to grow the plant if you like it.
