not really, no

e/ unless you dont have any access to bars for shit like squats and deads, which comes down to skipping legs 24-7

aren't dumbell squats/deads a thing? there is a smith machine at my gym but it restricts the range of motion so i've been using dumbells

well, unless your legs are really weak, usually dbs allow u to hold less weight, so basically stops you from making progress

if you can hold the weight you'd normally use with a bar, then its np

Id use bar for squats and deads, just for form / i find it much easier

Dumbbells can be used universally for most else

Even though the smith machine is shit, squatting with it is still 100x better than not squatting at all, and db squats are pretty lackluster, would be better off doing hill sprints for strength at that point.

as for basically any other muscle group dumbbells suffice plenty

Squat and deads are the only thing bars is needed for.

DUmbbells will be fine for rest.

OP asks about dumbell vs barbell, then every1 only mentions squat or deadlift...?

i dont think dumbell or barbell use should be determined based on diet
