So I try to squat heavy 5x5 three times a week, but i was scared the first two weeks so Wednesday's workout (MWF sched) I do front squats to give myself a break.
Not this week, it's Wednesday. I'ma try and squat the heavy ass (285lbs) 5x5 again not those light front squats time to be a man.
End of 2nd set did not feel good on my back. Went and foam rolled a minute but next rep felt bad, too. So I compensated a 5x5 of 1 plate front squats which felt great (man my core is weak these kill my abs) and then quit without finishing the rest of the 5x5; OHP and BO rows.
How the hell do you squat heavy 3 times a week? Am I a legit pussy now? Tmrw my back might be a little sore from fatigued shit form.

I know right! I'll bump the weight down 10lbs Friday, and then resume my Wednesday of lighter sets of front squat. Still 3 days of legs dammit. The volume really isn't there, though. That's only 15 sets total ( of heavy full body workout, just about right.) Fuck, you mad cuz you can't get noob gains anymore?

And yes im very made!!

Legs 3x week is master race

Edit: 5x5 is also retarded cos it holds you back from progressing fast


A better long term and more manageable approach would be


Monday:
Squats 5x5

Wednesday:
3x3 light and fast

Friday:
Work up to a heavy 5,4 or triple


Basically the texas method. It also wont bore u to tears and wont make u dread going to the gym as you already are

I agree with above, 5x5 is an absolute nightmare to do 3 times a week.

You'd be better off switching the rep schemes up, even if you're only doing 3 reps per set at the top (weight wise).

I'm doing pnp novice program, fun as fuark I get wet dreams about it, almost same thing as 5x5 just less volume

thanks for advice i will look at modifying my strength program fo sho

5 sets 5 is 25 reps if that's what you mean
but 3 exercises 5 sets each is 15 sets total

Are you in a caloric deficit? Makes a big difference in how often I can squat.
