It happens. Back when I trained MMA, I used to land kicks on people's elbows when deflecting and it HURT and left bruises. Although it's unlucky your toe got smashed in the process.
Basically, the bruising is a result of the immediate trauma and it will take some time for your injury to recover. I don't think it's necessary to visit a hospital for a bruise...especially when you're not feeling more urgent-like symptoms: dizziness, nausea, fainting, etc or if the bruise lasts more than two weeks.
Just make sure to avoid head for the first few days, apply ice and compression throughout the day, and elevate the area you injured. Most importantly...avoid training until you heal - I know this one is a struggle because I surely struggled with it.
Happy recovery!
