I remember a thread a while back said something like add dbs together +15 for an approx guess
Also heard .3633 as a ratio from bench to db

I was benching 170x5 swapped to dbs I used the .3633 then progressed from there, just hit 68.5x5 which if .3633 is 188x5 bench I think that =225 for a 1rm?

Obv the calc isn't gonna be perfect just a rough guess. Maybe I'll just try a 225 bench later

From what I've seen, take your barbell weight and multiply it by something between .75 and .9. Then divide that by 2. This should give you a ballpark that's fairly accurate.

When I was able to press 275 for 8 reps, the heaviest I could go in dB was 110 each. My left side would die out early at heavier weights with dbs. That's toward the lower end of the ratio I provided.

103 lbs would be .75. And 123 lbs would be the .9 figure, so it was pretty accurate to my specific situation anyway.

Give that a try and see what you come up with. Try your first set at the .75 number and if it's not rigorous enough, try .8, .85, .9

Oh. Just noticed your talk about a 1rm. There are various charts that you can Google to provide an idea for that.

Oh sweet! I tried googling it and got a bunch of forum posts etc

I'll try out your ratio, I'm going to attempt a 2 plate bench later today, last 1rm was 200

Pretty hard to make 170 feel much lighter.
