hey guys, im just starting to get into gym and all that, and ive read that the best way to lose weight, (coupled with weight training of course) is watching your diet, or caloric intake. i was wondering if someone could help me understand the fundamentals behind this, for example, if i cut half a carrot how would i go about calculating how much of each macro is in it, something like that, and how i would go about working out my own macro intakes. any help would be sweet, cheers in advance

Use a macro/calorie tracking app or site and log your food. Purchase a scale. Not sure what the best tracking site is these days
