I work on a computer pretty much all day networking and about the past week i've been waking up with a small twinge in my lower back. Wake up this morning & back was just wrecked. Hurt to lift my legs hurts to sit down shit sucks. It's right above my ass crack where all the pain, anybody have any suggestions should i start doing some workouts or just rest/stay out the chair for a few days

Could be your sciatic nerve due to bad posture? Google up some stretches and try that. Otherwise, try standing and sitting with neutral spine, don't cross your legs or round your back/shoulders.

Sounds stupid, but sometimes it's overall posture.

You might want to try to do some lower back extensions as well.

First I'd suggest you getting a new office chair, they're are a BUNCH that are specifically designed to "prop" you up almost like you're on a throne so your back cannot slouch. They're uncomfortable at first but really worth it in the long run for your backs health.
I can't comment on you doing work outs until I know what your physical level is.

Those are great, expensive but well worth it.
If you want to use "baby steps" into this transition get a bosu ball first and try it out. I used them for a while but I prefer these now.

is the pain slightly off to 1 side of your back? my hip pops out of place and it feels like lower back pain. maybe you sit in your chair more on one butt cheek or something and its forced your hip out of place. you can try getting a massage, that worked for me. now I can get it back into place on my own tho

u should not work out. in 99.9% of lower back-cases, there is a functional impairment on not something to be corrected mechanically.
