I was wondering if any of you guys working out have ibs ( irritable bowel syndrome). I've been living with this for about 2 years now, trying to keep balance in my life but lifting with this makes it hell...

Basicly I cant really eat much (aka gain weight) without feeling like shit or bloated, im making some kind of progress but doing abs exercise makes me feel like sh"t for hours.

So any of you guys dealing with this kind of problem? How do you deal with it?

have you tried taking high calorie shakes?

not too familiar with the condition, so i cant really help, but that would be a logical thing to try, avoid putting stuff that usually causes irritation

if u can make a choco shake and dump some peanut butter in there or something, can get high cals for not much food

Not been formally diagnosed, but majority of my symptoms were magnified by general anxiety and stress (refuse to call general anxiety a disorder). Do you share similar characteristics, or are you susceptible to IBS after consumption only?

The only way I have dealt with the symptoms is to know where the nearest bathroom is at all times. As fucked as that sounds, that is where my mind goes to before anything; a meeting, a restaurant, the gym, or even just a friends house.

Perhaps giving a probiotic (something like 'align') or some digestive enzymes will help... otherwise, making slow adjustments with your diet and coping with the difficulties... either way, keep your head up m800

Support this as well. Have been taking for a month now and have seen noticeably less discomfort. Could also be because stress has decreased being out of college, but it's probably a combination.

Nothing like fixing IBS with a shitton of calories at once.

Gotta rush the system

Crohns/colitis crew checking in since October 2009. I haven't truly worked abs in about 3 years when I was in total remission.

Lifting is truly a challenge, especially if you're living on corticosteroids. Not really sure of your exact condition and how bad you really have it, but you just have to keep telling yourself that progress is progress.

At the end of the day, you just have to find what works for you through trial and error. Poptarts work really well for me. High in calories and they don't really fill me up, so when I'm trying to get calories it's my number one food.

My worst loss was 28 pounds in 3 weeks

Keep on keeping on fellow poverty intestinal genetic brotha.

I'l look forward to this thanks bros.. As for high caloric shakes, they just make me feel like shit one hour after and cant eat for the rest of the day. So far whats working for me is not too much water( not get filled up,), small meals often in the day and staying away from coffee, alcool, energy drinks, high sugar drinks, tea etc etc.

Always fun to know im not the only one with fellow poverty intestinal genetic (liked this one braxton ^_^ )

Also not drinking with meals and avoiding fruits after meal helped me too
