i need more meal type foods, i could eat 400g of nuts and still be hungry... I am at work for 12 hours
ill try fruit and pasta,
any other ideas?
i was thinking maybe i could roast potatoes in the oven and barbecue chicken/steak... it would also last a few days in the fridge
also raw carrots and broccoli

so do you have access to a refrigerator at work?

or are you solely asking for foods that can sit outside during your 1 hour shift LOL

ok but really either way, cook and bring a lunch sack, if access to refrigerator then stuff it in there..if not buy some cold packs that you can keep in the freezer at night and pack with your lunch.

so what i usually do is make meals based on 3 food groups.

meat, carbs, veggies

just find a bunch of spices you like and add differently every meal.

so i usually make chicken or beef (this week is chicken)

carbs usually rice or noodles ( tired of bread, can only make sandwiches with bread really )

so first we have stir frys, make sure everything is fully cooked except for veggies

heat pan with oil and proceed to add veggies for a minute and stir fry the main ingredients together for a minute. done

next is stews and soups, just boil everything together and the meat will make a nice homemade nutritious broth as well.
Use a thickener for stews, keep liquidy for soups.
I use corn starch as a thickener ( small amount of cold water, mix corn starch in and add to a hot soup and stir until the corn starch is activated = thicker = stew time )

now we have pasta dishes
make pasta and whatever you want add and mix together duh

now we have rice bowls
cooked rice on bottom of bowl and add meat and veggies on top

bam

now you can decide your meals, the adventure is picking the veggies and spices.

Cook up chicken breasts, put chicken breasts in baggy, eat cold chicken breast... I honestly do this all the time. If that doesnt tickle your fancy, just make chicken wraps. Then have almonds/fruit/veggies for snacks. Easy.

i'm in a similar situation! working long-ass days. my crew always stops for breakfast+lunch though.

bring a regular lunchbox with 2 ice packs usually with a container of fruit and premade meal of chicken breast+brown rice+steamed veg. the lunchbox isn't too heavy without drinks, it just sucks eating that kind of stuff cold.
