so I went to the doc like 2 weeks ago... apparently I have knee bursitis. Ive been icing my knee every day since the injury and I still got pain. How long does this shit take to go away?

I just got knee supports yesterday because I just want to get back to training legs, what can you bros say for whoever has had this? My knees dont even look swollen and I can walk fine its just if i sit for a long period of time or on my feet for a while my knees start to bother me. Should I train light legs and see how it goes?

Input appreciated :)

she said about a week.. I mean i didnt really take advil at all. Is that really going to make a significant difference? I figured if i take it easy and just rest it up id be good but idk wtfs going on. I think if i tore something, I'd be able to notice a much larger problem but because its not frequent and persistent I think its still just bursitits. I also dont want to go back to the doc just for them to tell me this and rob my bank account lol

what people dont realize is if a tissue is irritated you shouldnt be loading it. i dont know why the first thought is always "i just want to get back to training"... how do you expect the tissue to restructure itself properly if it heals for a day or two and then you rip out the collagen again before it can mature? if it is a bursitis its a bit of a different story but fk just let it rest a bit. dont ice more than 2 days after pain initially begins, use heat at this point. bursitis occurs because there is either a traumatic event that damages the bursa or you're doing too much too fast. the obvious answer is NOT to hop straight back to full leg training.

I think people don't understand fully the significance of cold and heat on an injury and when/why one is done over the other.

You're right most people don't.

gentle massage and stretching - keep it moving reasonably often to avoid soreness - don't stop using it entirely.

for BURSITIS - alternating warm and cold can help more than solely icing it in some cases

it may take weeks depending on how bad - totally normal

I'm pretty sure I have hip bursistis from wide stance squat overuse. I fucked up and tried to work through it and ignored it as It got worse over a few month period. Finally stopped to let it heal when it was hurting dully 24/7. It's been 3 months and it's still not 100%. Moral of the story give it ample time, don't keep using it or u will prolong the issue.
