Yo, so I definitely know some people smoke weed and lift, no problems. When I smoked a shit ton 2 years ago, I was probably in the best shape of my life. However, I've recently found out that marijuana for extended periods of time and CHRONIC (no pun intended) usage can definitely lower testosterone.

The proof is in the pudding. My 18 year old brother, who's in good shape and eats well, bla bla bla, no health problems, has been smoking pot regularly for at least the past 4 years. We're talking daily, kid smokes at least an ounce a week of the dankies. We're not marijuana noobs. Anyways, he's recently started back up lifting with me and he's lost all the gains he once had as a younger dude and I was kinda like "wat" with him, so I asked my doctor to check him out, results:

Estrodial was in normal range,

Test was 392ng/dl. For an 18 year old, that shits whack. At 22 my test was higher than that.

Kinda blew my mind to be honest.

Edit: Reason I thought about this is I'm going boarding tomorrow for a week up @ Breckinridge and they've got a new dispensary there I've been wanting to check out. Honestly seeing his results got me kinda like "watx2" about eating some dabbabars and getting down on the shatter.

How can you note a decrease in your brother's testosterone if you don't know what it was preceding marijuana use?

Wouldn't surprise me though

Should have noted his test levels when he was 15 were 957ng/dl. My mom's always had comprehensives ran on us since she got diagnosed with thyroid problems.

It's not about having a "decrease," though, it's about having low testosterone at his age. His levels should be much higher than that regardless. He still lives at home, is extremely active, doesn't sit around and play video games, works full time, is in school, eats good meals because my parents cook him food, bla bla. Truly think marijuana is the culprit. That's coming from the biggest mmj advocate on this website, too. Just informing the other bros of potential side effects.

I've noticed marijuana lowers sperm count somewhat. im sure there's a T level connection with that.

testosterone fluctuates so much through out the time of day, different days, etc., it's hard to really be 100% conclusive. All the tests that say it does NOT lower, say the levels "remained in normal ranges." Normal ranges are like 300-900 ng/dl. If you start at 600 and drop to a 390 normal, people aren't going to want to say it lowers and has a negative for marijuana.

Shitty because there's hardly ever a 3rd party who isn't trying to paint pot in a positive or negative light when reporting the data.

This, you cant determine cause and effect. At least not with the information provided.

If you saw my brother. He's an 18 year old, 6 ft, 165lb, extremely healthy kid in great shape. Has no other medical disorders, has a proper diet. The like 3rd question the doctor asked was if he smoked marijuana. Doctor is a heart surgeon and a TRT dude on the side. He's like 75 years old, I trust him fully.

Just posting this for others to perhaps think about and conduct their own research. I'm just happy it's made my lil bro knock the weed off before he graduates HS and goes off to college later this year. Got him back in the gym, too!
