When I put on knee wraps really tight I feel circulation cut to my legs, but I like the tight feeling and it helps me get weight up.
Same thing on deadlift but with air flow.
Too tight?

can only be detrimental to situation

Over or under the knee?
Or is it at the whole area that the wraps cover?

If it's not that bad just roll them down to your calves when you are resting, then put them back on when you are doing the set.

Because weight lifting is relatively anaerobic it probably wont affect performance unless you have them on so tight that you're pinching off the common tibial nerve, in which case you'll lose nervous supply to your entire lower leg lol.

The air thing you are talking about is called a valsalva maneuver, it's pretty common and gives your abdominals something to contract off of so it's not bad

I would neither maintain a valsalva or keep knee wraps that tight during your rest period though, lots of metabolites need to diffuse out of leg tissue after squatting and oxygen is required to re synthesize atp
