so we have all heard that if you are a beginner to lifting weights you can put on a lot of muscle quickly.

ive been lifting for a year and a half, either at a deficit or maintenance. im almost to the bf% im comfortable with, so once i start bulking, would i be able to put on weight quickly? or am i fukkd

I think it's like 2 lbs per month if you do it cleanly

probably? the way i saw it all described a long time ago was that...when you first start lifting you are able to put on muscle quickly at first because your body isnt used to lifting or something like that

If you've been lifting for a year and a half I would assume you're past the beginner phase.

Eat a slight surplus and start doing big compound lifts.. Deadlifts, squats, power cleans and snatches, heavy kettle bell work, etc.

A beginner doesn't gain muscle quickly. He just adapts neurologically to his axes' efficiency quickly, cuz he never tried it before.

of course it's true... assuming said beginner starts out with a solid routine and proper nutrition

think about it. somebody with weak-ass muscles and nervous system starts lifting, his body will quickly adapt to the demands, it's like going 0-100, from nothing to something, i think this is the phase you're talking about.

after that it begins to slow down, because your muscles and nervous sytem have adapted. sure you'll go up in weight lifted, but it won't be like the 0-100, it'll be like going 100-120, etc etc.

for example, take those really huge bodybuilders. they do like 10 different exercises for their biceps just to get them to grow. (ok might be slightly exaggerated but they're definitely doing more than db curls)
