The simplest answer is often the most true

You can cheat with dbs, you can't cheat with barbell.

Also it's been stated before but you friend is a native

Weak chest or triceps? Plus, being good at one lift doesn't necessarily mean you are awesome at another lift. I've hit 225x2 on ohp and benched 385. Meanwhile, Matt ogus benches 350ish and hits 265 on ohp. All in what you train the most.

if youre an elbow flarer/naturally let the weight come down(a 95% of the people in the gym do), you should try benching with your elbows inward about 25-45 degrees, will put the emphasis on your chest and triceps and not so much on your shoulders. This can increase your bench dramatically, as well as prevent shoulder injuries.

if you really want a full chest burn and pump go on the smith machine and do flat bench with your elbows close to all the way in but not quite and bring the bar to your chest each time doing slow controlled reps. Most amazing thing ive felt on chest days. Put your grip at shoulder width to slightly wider than shoulder and make sure you pinch your chest together at the top for full ROM.

Lost me at "smith machine". Same exercise can be done with regular barbell to strengthen core muscles in the process as well.

okay, come back to me when your chest is half my size and you bench over 400lbs raw.

Obviously the same fucking exercise can be done with barbell but you will isolate your chest and triceps a lot more and take the load off your shoulders and core which the fucking OP obviously needs work on his chest.

I am getting real tired of people on this forum thinking compound lifts are god. You really need to mix up your routines and learn some new lifts if you want to break plateaus and really get to the next level of being bigger/stronger.
