the 2 I know of is your CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) which is about as accreditted as it can get for personal training afaik. Unless you were also a physiotherapist or something

You can't take the course unless you have an undergrad degree I believe. It's mostly just self study with a test that you have to write when you think you know the information well enough. To write the test is like $400 or something like that. The minimum to pass is 70%.

It's a pretty intense book and it's quite in depth... I have my buddy's CSCS book here at my house. He's going to write his CSCS this summer (He's in Vietnam right now teaching so he can't write it)

To keep your certification I think you have to write a test every 2 or 3 years to prove you're staying current and active with the knowledge. I could be wrong on some of the details though

The other is CanFitPro which is a bullshit certification. It's pretty much just a weekend crash course from my understanding.

E:

This is all you need to know about CSCS. Apparently you need a Bachelor's Degree to write the test.

E2:

Looks like CanFitPro is a Canadian thing...

looks legit. CanFitPro recognizes it. For your basic PT shit, it's probably fine. I'm not personally familiar with it, but I'm sure someone is on here.

There is a fair bit of money in personal training. I've considered getting into it. It seems like a rewarding job if your clients are serious about their health and fitness.

At the end of the day, to be a really effective PT I think taking something like Kinesiology, getting a BA in something like physiotherapy and taking your CSCS is a really good route,
but obviously not a practical route unless you are trying to gain enough accreditation and experience to become a member of a sports teams training staff.

That's where the money really is.

physio isnt a bachelors level program (at least in canada), you need to get your masters in PT to practice.

Wouldn't you rather just be an accountant, steal money from your company and blow it on coke?

He's referring to PT = personal training , not physio.

a tired mistake in words. It was almost 2AM when I was posting that. Regardless, if you were a licenced physiotherapist there is no doubt that it would be recognized by the NSCA
