I've been having pain on my shin whenever I run. I have PFA this week, but my shins are still hurting. I have one more chance to take my PFA if I fail this one.

These shin splints prevented me from improving running to get my 1.5 mile run.

this is one of many factors. Could also be the shoes you wear.

I used to get shin splints every single time I ran. I went out and bought dr. Scholls active series sport inserts and I have not had shin splints since. I swear by them.

The shoes you wear, the way your ball/heal hit the ground, and the type of ground you're running on are factors.

Just try to stretch a little more beforehand/afterwards.

there are many different factors that can cause shin splints. excessive running on hard surfaces, flat feet, excessive running on uneven ground etc. Usually it's a combination of several things. For me, I have semi flat feet and would do an absurd amount of running on really uneven ground.

I used to get them really bad in highschool during the football season about 2 weeks in every year. It would last 1-2 weeks and then go away on its own. Playing and practicing through it was a real bitch though. Every step walking was a lot of pain, let alone practice 5 days a week plus a game where you're constantly running. I didn't have the option of rest (I was the starting rb, returner and db) to let it go away

I'd take a shit load of extra strength tylenol at lunch and then a shit load more right when school ended so it would curb the pain enough to run during practice.

you can tape it w/ sports tape and it will relieve some of that pain. I only had it once and I was running in vans skate shoes, stomping my feet like a t-rex. my fat ex-gf used to get them all the time

that is a really difficult question to answer on a forum.

And what type of running are we even talking about. distance? sprinting?

Elbows at 90 degress
relax the shoulders
think heel to butt
pull knee higher
be explosive in the rebound
relaxed breathing
quick feet
keep feet underneath you

As far as the shin splints, stretch. Stretch stretch stretch. Stretch your ankles, quads, hamstrings, glutes etc. Use a bar, lacrosse ball, foam roller, and roll up and down your shins,, calves, sides of your hamstrings and tbands.

I used to have bad shin splints, but that was before i actually made any effort into doing anything to prevent it
