i've done a bit of reading on this, and see there are many different opinions on why bodybuilders use insulin and what its effects are on the body. there were 2 popular themes while i was looking it up.

1. said that only those who use steroids use insulin. that insulin is highly catabolic and steroids are highly anabolic, and they help balance eachother out and compliment one another. ok, i know nothing about steroids, but this seems to make sense.

2. said that insulin causes hypoglycemia which makes your muscles and cells more readily available to quickly absorb and utilize nutrients, and slows the breakdown of proteins in the muscle. don't know why the 2nd part would be desired, but if this is true, then taking insulin wouldn't be mutually exclusive to taking steroids.

i ask this because i've type 1 diabetic my whole life and the topic generally interests me. and no, i'd never consider using my insulin to help make gainz (because aside from being my one major lifeline, hypoglycemia can be seriously fucking dangerous. also it ain't cheap)

my understanding is that advanced bodybuilders who are no longer making gains with AAS alone use it to go further beyond theIr natural limits

both of these are kind of wrong and just a poor way of describing the effects of the hormone... it has anabolic effects because it helps cells take up and trnasport nutrients as well as synthesize proteins.
in most people, using insulin alone would just make them fat... lol so you only use it if you're diabetic or joining the darkside.

this is the way i've always understood it. i guess what i'll read on next is what the absorption of glucose does to help this process precisely

so in non-diabetic people, the use of insulin lets the food bypass the storage phase and go straight into the body's cells? that must be a really tricky balance between food intake, energy spent training, and insulin dosage.

right, i was summarizing and have a poor understand of the biology of steroids and their purpose, so thanks for clearing that up.
