Have any of them sent you in for an MRI, CT Scan, or at least X-Ray?

When you say '3 inches above where the spine ends', are you talking 3" above the sacrum aka tailbone (near the top of your butt crack), or are you talking ~3" above where the last vertebra sits? (sorry, idk how much you know about anatomy or i would be more specific)

edit: feel free to PM if you like..i may very well have no idea what it is, but my back issues have lead me to 4 different chiropractors, 2 general doctors, 2 physical therapists, 4 spine specialists, and have talked with (on the phone or emailed back and forth) at least half a dozen other spine specialists over the course of like 8-10 years, all dealing with my spine in the area around where I think you are referring too

Herniated l5/s1, and a couple bulging lumbar with a pitched nerve, and sciatica. Try a spine and pain medicine specialist (physiatrist). They work with muscles, nerves, and bones. Chiropractics can make it worse. Pt is great after u find out whats wrong, and if it can be rehabilitated by pt effectively.

I;ve had back pain for a long time.

Do you have flat feet?

Also, yoga does wonders as well.

3 inches above where your spine ends? In your skull?

I fractured my L4 (similar area to what you are explaining - although not dead center). It's fairly uncommon, so a chiropractor and PT will only tell you it's not getting better. I would recommend consulting a back specialist as they should be able to identify a fracture very quickly, while a general physician could easily miss it.

Edit: Sorry about the back problems, my back still bothers me 10 years later.
