never really ran a lot before but I want to start getting into it to lose weight + get in better shape.

I'm going out later after work to get some running shoes.
which ones do you guys prefer? or which shoes are best?
(probably wont be running miles and miles since I just quit smoking and am probably going to die after 500 ft..)

Also I am quitting drinking soda and probably going to start eating more salads / healthier foods

I've jumped from 165-195 moving from the warehouse to the office at my work (fedex)

I have never been at 195 before so I'm not sure if I'll lose weight or just build muscle ..
I would like to burn off some of the fat and maybe get back down to 170 or so
is running a good idea to do this? or should I be doing something else?
I'm probably going to do other activities just at the house because I really dont feel like joining a gym again.

I would also like to do this in about a months time..
so if anybody has any crucial diets or daily excercise ruotines that would be awesome :)

You just need to be more active. You don't even need to run, walking at 3.5 pace with 6% incline you can burn calories pretty effectively.

You'd be surprised how much weight you'll actually lose with running/walking daily and taking out soda alone. If you have a smartphone try out MyFitnessPal. You can enter your stats and it'll give you a calorie intake you should follow. It also helps you track everything so your held accountable everyday. It helps me because I know if I want to say eat 3 cookies I will second guess it because I know I have to enter it into my app.

So, light running/fast walking for 1-4 miles a day, eating healthier (no soda, candy, etc.) and you'll lose 2-3 pounds/week easy. I'd say around 1400-1800 calories would be sufficient for you, per day. Good luck.

Thanks man I will look into that app seems like a good idea actually..
but I heard around 1200 calories a day is a good diet so I wouldn't doubt that 1400-1800 is a good number to go off of

I also wanted to ask if running / walking early or late in the day was better? or if it mattered?

also I do have a fast metabolism and am 6'0 193 pounds ruffly so not fat just got some chub im not used too :)

also how are suanas affective? do you go in before your workout or after? do they help lose weight or whats the purpose?

Regards apps, I'm using runtastic which is pretty good. I set myself a goal of running 1000 tracked miles this year - feel free to challenge me for some motivation if you want b)

With regards to shoes have a look at adizeros, I'm not a massive runner but I've had two pairs of these and they are super comfortable, and super super light which is great for running i guess

Good luck and keep us updated

Yeah I just guessed on the calorie intake, it'll tell you what you have to do though. A fast metabolism is a good thing, use that to your advantage while you can!

What shoes did you end up going for? I decided to get some new ones too as my old were starting to get worn

I went to the store and they had a treadmill and recorded me running in different pairs of shoes to indicate what type and support may be required. Was pretty impressed with it really.
