I came across this list of words "unique" to maine, and I'm sure some of them are, but I can't imagine they all are. I thought some of these were pretty widely used.
So, identify which words you recognize from daily conversation in your area and which are foreign.

Obviously, for me these were all very common.

dooryard was one of the words i had no idea was unique to this area.
cunnin isn't uncommon, but isn't that usual either.
Ayuh is very common.
I didn't know Jimmies was unique.
Didn't know Gommy was unique.
Right out straight is common, but i knew it was unique.
Didn't know steamers was unique.
Didn't know stoved up was unique.
I thought the way back was universal also...

It's funny how different areas of the U.S. adopt different languages.

Which ones did you know?

There's a part 2 as well, check that out and let me know what you think.

"Give her a boot in the hole and a bucket of mickeys would fall out of her fanny"

If anyone gets that I'll be impressed. It's not a commonly used sentence but it's a prime example of Irish slang. I was in stitches laughing at that one.

Pretty close, it's "if you kicked her in the ass a bucket load of dicks would fall out her cunt"
