It all adds up.
You could use the "difference too marginal to care" for tons of crap. E.g. lets eat corn flakes instead of oat bran, cause difference is minimal.
Common now, either try to eat healthy or don't, but don't say you eat healthy if you eat 90% big macs and 10% fruits and veggies.
There's prob tons of studies of the long-run health impact of eating stupid crap like cornflakes 24/7 or white bread 24/7. If you care about such a thing...then making choices between two alternatives (e.g. whole grain vs white, oat bran vs corn flakes, liver pate vs lean meat, etc) makes sense.
Eat some fucking vegetables if you want fibre. Don't eat whole wheat for its whole WHOPPING TWO GRAMS more fibre than white bread, that makes no sense. Yeah, it does all add up, but I for one can tell you that whole wheat bread sucks in comparison to white (my opinion, of course). I don't want to eat my burgers off of cardboard.
Let's make something clear. Quantity of studies =/= proof. If the methodology is complete and utter shit (which I can assure you most of them will be), then the results are worthless. Are you going to tell me red meat is going to wipe humanity off the face of the Earth? There are A LOT of studies showing how bad red meat is, how carbs are bad, how fat is bad.
Shall I refer to Dr. Lustig's awful study on sugar? We'll get people to be completely sedentary and drink sugar water all day and see if they get fat.
P.S. Do you really eat oat brans over corn flakes because you think they're healthier? If so, I feel so bad for you dude.

Whole grain.....simply because white bread taste like shit
See? Like I said, opinion. If you truly feel whole grains taste better then power to you! If not, then why torture yourself?
