The primary issue is that people in the USA do not move enough. Look at businesses today versus 40 years ago... today instead of walking across the office to talk to someone face-to-face we just send them an e-mail or call them.
Of course these companies are only in it for the money... but humans can still eat this food and be fit. I'm typing this as I eat a 750 kcal bag worth of Sour Patch Kids and I'm still ~10% bf and have great blood lipid levels etc etc.
