I know it is dependent on your height and people's perceptions of what is skinny; some people can even carry weight "better" by having bigger shoulders and stuff.

But personally every time I hit a weight target thinking I will look bigger, there is little change and people tend not to notice. Which is kinda surprising for a 20 lbs weight gain in like a year. If possible I'd like to hear any ectomorph that knows what I'm talking about

get a thicker neck, the thicker neck is where its at. looking at your profile picture you look to be a boney human being with a thin gaunt face, so you need to work on getting a thick neck, a thick neck usually means big shoulders, and it might put some flesh on your skull. thats when you can start to say your not skinny.
also if you feel any little drop in temperature, your too skinny and you need a thick neck as it works as a flesh scarf to keep your head warmer and keeps warm air from escaping from the gap your pencil neck has from the fabric of your sweater or coat.

if only weight piled on proportionally everywhere...sadly that's not the case, at least not for me...when I start putting on fat...it goes to my abdomen mostly...and the rest doesn't change much...

take off your shirt and look in a mirror. if you can see your abs or your ribs, you're skinny.

i feel you, for me i find it easy to make gains on shoulders and legs but really hard when it is arms and chest. most of my extra weight is probably in my legs
