This is all hypothetical..but I'm just wondering about what I'd be missing with the following set up.

Bench Press
Power Rack (pull ups would have to be done here)
Adjustable bench for DB presses (and to avoid having to adjust the bench every couple of sets)
DB set / Rack
3x barbells
Matted area to do deads (i guess in theory entire power rack should be on a matted surface).
Abs Bench
4x 45's , 2x 25's 4x 10's, 4x 5's, 2x 2.5's.
1x cardio machine (treadmill or exercise bike)

IN THEORY, this could cost under 3 grand with solid equipment. Hell, with a lot of patience and craigslist luck, possibly 1500-2k (although that would take a ton of luck)

Thoughts?

Obviously, you'd miss some of the machines, but in terms of convenience for someone with limited time, and effectiveness...it's there IMO.

Noflexzone indeed. Buy a membership at a gym. If you're not wealthy, you'll never get the proper equipment.

I'd rather have a 5k home gym. I'd save money and time in the long run.

5000 is 167 months of gym membership @ 30bucks/month... thats near 14 years of gym

there are so many pieces of equipment that you'll never have because of limited space / budget... im thinking leg extension, hamstring curls, pec deck etc etc etc...
you'll end up doing the same movements over and over, with NO alternative (switching it up from db/bb to machines from time to time) for 14 years? lol ridiculous

I pay $30 a month with no contract for a nice gym. It would take over 10years to make up for that $5k investment and you won't get nearly as much
