So i got a small bench set for 45$ yesterday, got a bar, 166 pounds of plates + the bench

I moved into a house and buddy didnt want to take it with him

Good deal?

Also, what are some good barbell exercises for a noob?

The best, and most basic compound movements are:

Bench press
Bent-over rows
Over-head press
Deadlift
and Squat, but you'll want a rack for that.

Look up on youtube correct technique for those

A weight lifting bench is a great purchase.

Some things that it's good for:

1. Sitting clothes baskets on while waiting for washer/dryer cycles to finish.
2. Hanging shirts/dress pants from the barbell itself to dry.
3. Sitting on it to watch television
4. Throwing random crap on it that you didn't feel like bending down all the way to the floor to put down.
5. Occasionally, it can be used to lay down on and get swole.
