Hello all. This has to do with the Health portion of this forum.
So I have a problem, along with asthma and seasonal allergies. During the Spring and Summer, I'm generally pretty able, lifting, biking, skateboarding, mountain climbing, and running a few miles on alternating days. It's not an intense lifestyle, but if I had to give it a grade I'd give my active lifestyle a B-. In winter, the cold makes my lungs hurt, so I can't really do much running. My problem is that I've gone from running 3 to 5 miles every other evening a month ago to being out of breath by doing household maintenance.
I went biking Tuesday afternoon for about 20 miles, then Wednesday I'm skateboarding from the free lot to the radio station (probably like 3/4 mile) and I start feeling really ill. After sitting for a while, I would get lightheaded when standing or talking for prolonged periods. Today, I've lost my breath just crouching down and moving a plastic dog house. This happened to me back in Fall 2012, and a respiratory specialist couldn't help me. Despite struggling to breath, I still breath well on the breathing tests. So my capability hasn't diminished, it's just becoming more difficult. Now, I'm getting headaches and lightheaded, comfortable breathing is shallow breathing, and I just want to lie down.
Asthma medication offers quick but temporary relief. Even nebulizer treatments are really temporary and don't seem to assist me. I'm pretty sure it's not pneumonia or an infection. And the symptoms are their worse in between 1pm and 4pm. I live south of Las Vegas, so desert climate. I'm allergic to dust and to the vast majority of plant life around me, as well as my pets. Allergy meds offer little relief, maybe they'll fix the headache but not the breathing.
Anyone else experience similar scenarios? I want to say it's just allergies, but I have a hard time believing they're so severe that I now find myself gasping from walking up the stairs.
