Lightman said you can't gain muscle while in a calorie deficit, so what's the point of lifting weights while in a caloric deficit? (besides the obvious cardio/metabolism benefit) but cardio does the same..

so why lift weights if you can't gain muscle when cutting?

I'm just wondering.

Building Testosterone to minimize loss of muscle while on a caloric deficit. (Must keep protein at 1g per 1 pound of body weight to minimize muscle loss as well.) That's been my understanding but I'm just a brute who doesn't stop hoisting heavy objects for fun.

- maintain muscle mass
- you can still get stronger on a cut. If you can cut and still get stronger, why not do it?

Cardio is not the same as weight lifting in terms of metabolic effect. Cardio just expends calories in the moment whereas weight lifting expends calories continuously (when you are lifting, and when you are not lifting to repair/build muscle).

This post is a violation of the site rules and appropriate action was taken.

Think of it this way, Phaggot

You gain muskeloids by stressing them. Stress provides the stimulation for growth.

If you stop working out, you remove the stress on your muskles, and in turn there is no stimulation. No stimulation = muscle loss

Aka use it or lose it

what kind of question is this?

Why would you want to stop lifting?

you lift because you enjoy it and enjoy the health benefits of it..

Ufc fighters actually gain strengh while they lose wheight.
Your understanding is based on myths.

also, depends greately on how much deficit abviously, but it would be idiotic to stop lifting. Why would you think that you should stop lifting?
