Let me explain. When you're lifting and you're struggling at a particular rep, do you laugh for no particular reason? Not like a LOL moment but maybe just cracking a smile. Maybe I'm just weird...

Was doing arms yesterday and was struggling with bicep curls. I don't know, it got funny after 5 seconds of finally getting that last rep up. I thought there was something scientific about it (aka increased testosterone from workout increases endorphins etc) but I guess it's just me.

I had a laugh today during my deadlifts but it wasn't inexplicable. I was a bit frustrated because my hands got tired and I wanted to pull another set. The day before was a heavy pull day so I guess my hands didn't recover from back & biceps :(

Youre laughing off your failures as a defensive mechanism

Just like how people fall and hurt themskeves then get up real quick and laugh it off to avoid embarasment

You were lifting an embarrassing weight at an embarrassing amount of reps and were even failing at that so u thought to laugh to avoid humiliation

Lol'd

@op - I only ever do that when friends spot me and even at that... very rarely. 99% of the time I lift by myself so that is no issue. I have no idea why I do it when I do. But, I try to keep everything as consistent as possible in order to avoid any injuries. This includes aggression, thoughts, where I look, etc. Lots of little things that many lifters don't take into consideration. It's just another variable you need to control in order to assess your current routine/schedule.
