I seem to recruit more activity in the lower lats when I bench, any tips for recruiting more chest? Already tried pre exhausting the chest, doesnt seem to work that well.. :sad:

Why would you pre exhaust the chest?? Warm it up for sure though.

Just bench more and grow your chest. Focus on your mind muscle connection as well. Along with this link, check out a video Scooby does of it on YouTube. Iirc pretty good vid. On a lil road trip so can't link it now

It's funny because the way the lats are positioned doesn't allow for any sort of humoral flexion or abduction that would be required for the bench press movement. The lats extend and adduct the arms, with maybe a little external rotation. They really don't participate in the lift in any sort of primary capacity

I am not quite sure how you bench.

Sure you do recruit lats during right when the bar leaves the chest (mainly during paused reps).
Are you sure you just don't imagine that you use lats more than chest?
