can any of you guys tell me how to boil eggs for egg salad??? I had it one time with a friend a few months back, and he is a chef, but i never asked him specifically how to boil the eggs. I've read and been told so many different things. No idea how because the first time I did it they were not easy to peel at all so I threw em away -.-

any tips? looking to make some egg salad with onion, garlic, pepper, tomato, and a bit of mayo

bring pot of water to a 'rumbling' boil and plop them sons of bitches in for 6-7 minutes i believe. drain, fill with cool water.

do NOT use the freshest eggs, or they will be hard to peel. get eggs a few weeks old (remember they're good for 5 weeks after sell by date). add a bit of baking soda into the pot. after they're done, fill with ice water

i also have issues with getting it consistent. i've tried a variety of strategies. eg: put em in after they're boiling, put em in when the water is still cold, turn off heat as soon as it boils and cover, etc. i gave up on it and now i just fry them.

I find they tend to sometimes split when u put them into boiling water and go everywhere

Starting from cold works for me

Also I never boil older eggs. So many times I've bitten into rotten ones, fawking gross

I make egg salad and deviled eggs and just eat hard boiled eggs often so I will cook like 12 at once in the oven at 325f for 25 to 30 mins and you'll have 12 hard boiled eggs. But if u want a quicker way for just a few you can place em In a pot with water heat it up till boiling then boil it for 8-10mins drain em then shake the eggs in the pot to break the shells a bit .after that poor into a bowl with cold wattles
Preferably ice in the water for 5+ mins .

I make boiled eggs like every day

Take a dowel and hit the raw egg shells on the bottom lifhtly until they crack a tiny bit (too much and egg white will leak out whilst cooking

Grab a pot of cold water, fill to around same height as eggs then plop the eggs into the cold water, put it on the stove on high no lid, once it boils take it off the heat and put the lid on, 3 mins wait for soft boiled 5 mins for hard 7++ for stupidly well down

Hard AF to overcook this way and i always peel perfect eggs even soft boiled even with fresh eggs
