Jw. I weight about 192 at 5'11, 6 foot roughly. Just started back at the gym yesterday with bis & tris (nn criticism if these are bad to mix, or w.e) and then today I focused on back with a little chest. After each workout I did about 20 minutes cardio. First day I did on the bike, today I did on the treadmill.

I'm by no means 'fat', but I could lose about 10 or so pounds and be where I want to be. I want to continue building muscle.

Should I try to purely bulk and then cut? Or can I do both? I've never been a huge gym rat/knowledgable on how the body works in burning fat/building muscle, etc. so excuse me for that.

that's just a little background

so I guess what I'm asking is it efficient to do cardio after working out/lifting? Or should I try and focus a single on cardio without lifting?

Any past experiences, good workout tendencies, etc are appreciated.

Thanks :)

The best way to cut fat is to eat less calories than you expend.

I do understand that diet does play a very large role in burning the fat.

i would say its almost unequivocally more about your exercise than your diet.

exercise stimulates lean mass retention and improves lipolysis, expends kcal, improves blood lipid and sugar regulation, along with many other health benefits that im sure i dont need to explain to you. im big on plugging the importance of exercise over diet right now for general health so thats probably why i said what i did. still i would argue the title doesnt strictly imply energy balance, which would be more important than exercise for body composition changes, but diet overall carries associations of food quality and eating strategies which i would still say fall second to exercise

I figured this is what you would say, its a community health perspective. For the majority of this forum, losing weight is about diet.
