Yesterday was my back day and I started lower back with deadlifts. On my third set, I added a plate each side and was going for 5 reps with alternate grip. On the third rep, I felt like I may have jerked the weight off the floor a bit too much and had a sharp pain in my lower back so I stopped, unloaded, waited a bit and did 2 more sets of stiff leg deadlifts with no issue. I had not been deadlifting in a few weeks and it feels like everytime I try to hit low back harder I'm getting red lights. My form probably isn't perfect, but it's definitely decent.
Bottom line is my lower back feels like it's in cement, lol, and when I do that kind of lift it's not very flexible and feels even worse the day after. I don't feel like that is normal pain, as it affects my posture for some time. I don't really want to abandon DL altogether, but I wonder if you guys have any tips or ever had a similar issue.
That's probably your problem right there bud.
edit: Also, what does your progression look like? +90lbs from set to set seems really weird.
double edit: there should also be
NO "jerking" going on in the deadlift, highway to snap city right there
fingerling, you deserved your own edit, gtfo you useless sack
