So haven't been in this part of jsp for a super long time, last time was like 2008 or something rofl

Basically, this is my last semester of grad school and the way my classes are set up, I wanna start getting back into the swing of things

I've always been a little chubby, last 3-4 years through undergrad and work I just did a bunch of cardio while not lifting much so my weight had been sitting around 155-160 (I'm 5'6")

However, started grad school last year, and had a rough spring semester + I worked over the summer at an internship where I had little leftover time, and holy shit I look pretty awful now

I'll be heading to the gym a lot more this semester, since my classes are set up beautifully for me to take advantage on weekends + W/Th/F mornings, giving me essentially a full week just shifted over

I've never really followed a good nutrition plan but I think that's a good step in the right direction

Basic goals are to work out in the late mornings every day, I don't mind following similar or even identical meal plans every workout day

I know pre-workout I want something to help fuel my workout like oatmeal

Kinda lost what I should be looking for the rest of the way

For the bigger meal in the middle of the day I feel like a combination of a protein (I have fish atm) and some greens would go a long way here

Late night I'm also unsure of how to split it up so I don't overeat later in the day

What would you guys recommend for beginners?

Firstly; http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=61584284&f=60 Boom - Fat loss 101.

Secondly; there are many great tried and tested routines. One such beginner program that has had an overwhelming amount of success is 'Jason Blaha's novice full body workout'. If youre gonna be 'cutting' and eating in a deficit, do the 'cutting version' (less volume so you dont burn out). You can google the deets of that. It's all quite easy to find.

Lastly; if you feel like you need a boost before the gym, sure, buy some pre-workout, or just drink some coffee and save $$
As mentioned in fat loss 101, all you need to do to lose fat is to consume less energy than you expend. Thus the eating lifestyle of IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) is largely propagated due to its simplicity, and will greatly help you.
