When i swapped to a pre-workout with 1g of pre-workout, it was much easier to keep a consistent sub 1minute rest time in between sets.

Link does not work...

1g of creatine daily? Why not up it to 5g?

Increases in PCr phosphagen stores will provide more substrate during working sets but ultimately ADP rephosphorylation between sets is dependent mostly on oxidative phosphorylation rate, and can be examined by looking at recovery vo2.

Translation: Creatine may be responsible for getting 12 reps out of a set instead of 11, but it is not responsible for a rest period going from 90 seconds to 60 seconds.

Actually now that I think of it, if cytosolic Cr concentrations increase through supplementation you may see an increase in ATP/PCr reformation as well. Mitochondrial ADP pool is distinct from the ADP pool supplying myosin ATPase in the cytosol so an increase in creatine concentration may (depending on enzyme kinetics) might stimulate quicker Cr rephosphorylation via phosphagen shuttle systems on mitochondrial outer membrane which would naturally elevate mitochondrial ADP and up regulate mitochondrial oxidation appropriately as a result. That's speculation I honestly don't know if or what the mechanism is for greater recovery between sets. I think it's a combination of greater draw of phosphates through mitochondrial shuttle systems plus a larger, harder to deplete phosphagen pool
