My brother is a dealer out in Kanas and I've been talking to him recently about getting a handgun.
Going with the M&P and he recommended the 9mm cause I'll be able to shoot it more often.
I'm unsure if I should go with the 9mm, 40 and 45.
He has the .40

Why not go with the 45?
My understanding is that it will have 12+1 compared to 40s 15+1

Just get the p227, can get barel exchanges and run 9mm or .357 Sig,

9mm will kill just fine and its what the secret service, seals, and other spec ops teams want (although they run p229]

the m&p isn't a heavy gun..the .45 kicks alot harder and im assuming you dont shoot much so you might not like it..40 is a nice round. more stopping power than a 9mm but doesn't kick as hard as a 45

e: i prefer the Springfield XDS..not a fan of how thin their grips are..but a very very smooth gun and it's top notch for personal carry

e2: not to say the m&p is bad by any means..it's a very nice gun as well

I loved my brother .40 M&P and the three different grips it comes with feel great.
I dislike my friends 45 glock.
And at least on the M&P the 40 kicks harder than the 45

.40 def shouldn't kick harder than a 45..might just be your personal preference..just gotta get what you're most comfortable with..guns hold their value well. can always sell it or trade it in towards another

I'm telling you, go with a Sig, you won't regret it.
