Interesting discussion with Rippetoe and some Crossfit tool. Wish they'd do a longer debate on this.

The part where the guy is paralyzed from the waist down.... why the hell was he warming up with 235 if that was his opener?! Do they not teach crossfitters how to properly warm-up at a competition?!

There's some good powerlifting/crossfit discussions on YouTube, really interesting stuff actually.

Funny though, most of the collaborations I've seen is cross fit trainers and enthusiasts attending seminars to listen to what elite level strength athletes have to say about carryover to the games lol

I honestly feel there are MUCH better methodologies to train for the Crossfit games than actually doing Crossfit. I wish Crossfit would remove the olympic movements as these are done with inadequate form and with improper rep ranges.

Also, why did the guy in the video bail out behind him? Olympic Weightlifting teaches you to always bail out in front when you're in the hole as you can use momentum forward and don't risk bringing your shoulders at the limit ROM backwards.

Well yeah, just like any sport. For example, elite level strength athletes doing set of 30, 50, 100 reps for triceps, hamstrings, and lats as a accessory to strength development Doing things for "x" sport improvement that don't revolve around said sport boggles the mind of onlookers lol. It's a huge misconception within all aspects of fitness.

Like when I see or hear about football players utilizing the weightroom for endurance work; that really irritates me lol.

There are some exceptions of course but for the most part I agree. As a powerlifter I VERY rarely use high rep schemes or cardio but they do have their time and place in the sport of course.

The people getting hurt in crossfit are the people that load with too much weight without an appreciation for the effects of metabolic fatigue on the body. Nobody respects those limitations, half of the time they can't even recognize them.

It's like sending under educated employees into a workplace with understandable risks and dangers, they don't actually know how to recognize and cope.
