I have a cousin who completed the iron man twice in his life, he's 30 years old now. Two years ago I completed a 5 KM run with a time of 16m45s, I was about 165-170 at that time. When I told him my time, he didn't believe me and still doesn't, so we agreed to compete against each other in a run on next September 22. I don't have to complete it in 16m45s like I did before, but simply to beat him in his own race (he's doing a 5 KM in about 18m45s-19m00) as we took into consideration that I weight 185-190 now.

In a short sentence, I'm looking for tips to better my time on a 5 KM run in 2 months... not sure if I should be doing sprints, longer distances... thx men. I think I should be doing fine since I never really trained to do my first time, but I want to give my best against dis cous so I'll invest some time in training for this race.

I heard running 5km is great practice for a 5km race, in fact it is superior to anything else

I was gonna say just run a 5k over and over

Obviously not like 3 of em in a day but, one every other day? Thats how we got prepped for track, just did more than what we usually had to do so we're ready

if u ran a 5k in 1645, you know exactly what you need to do to get in that type of shape again.

The secret is quarter-mile sprints aka one lap on track
Do like 10 of them with 1-2 min rest or however many til u are almost dead
Make sure you are under 1 min every time
