Hi guys I'm new here.A few months ago, one of my best friends asked me to be a groomsman at his wedding. I was honored — and slightly panicked. I realized I’d be wearing a fitted suit, standing up front, with all eyes (and cameras) on us. That was the wake-up call I needed to refocus on my health and fitness.

Over the next 8 weeks, I committed to a cleaner diet, regular strength training, and daily walks. Nothing extreme — just consistency. The biggest shift was in how I felt: more confident, sharper, and energized.

It all paid off on the wedding day. The tailored suit I wore — a soft gray one from https://www.azazie.com/all/suit-collections — fit perfectly and actually made the whole experience more enjoyable. Looking good is one thing, but feeling strong and comfortable made all the difference.

It made me realize how much fitness ties into confidence — especially during those big milestone moments. Whether it’s a wedding, a reunion, or just life in general, taking care of your body has a ripple effect on everything else.

Has anyone else used a big event like a wedding to kick-start a new health habit? Would love to hear your stories.

Did you take your shirt off on the dance floor?

If not, why not

I know what you mean about those big milestone moments motivating you. I was really looking forward to seducing someone (from the net. Laugh at me), and with that, I was really really motivated and I ate really healthy, stopped eating junk, and I literally went from 76 (or so) kg to 64 kg. Of course, stopping my antipsychotic helped greatly, too, but I don't think that I could have achieved it without the thought constantly in the back of my mind telling me, "Do you want to look good for him, or not? Do you want a husband, or not?"

I think motivation makes all the difference in the world. Now I am feeling motivated again--I want to move to a new city in search of true love--I imagine the pounds gonna drop again. The fact they also took me off the worst offending antipsychotic and put me on a less bad antipsychotic, will help greatly, I am sure. Right now I am at 69.5 kg. I will keep you guys posted on my journey and will make a big deal about it once I hit 64 kg again.
