I want to use a chemical exfoliator to exfoliate my face. I know that I am supposed to use a sunscreen to protect the newly revealed skin, but I don't want to. How bad is this?

By chemical exfoliator do you mean harsher chemicals? I'd recommend against that but I don't know much about it.

Look into getting some Korean exfoliating face wash. It's prime stuff, but may need to be imported.

You should always exfoliate before bed, to eliminate the problem of exposing your face. I would definitely avoid sunscreen, and just limit your time in the sun

Thanks for the response.

By chemical exfoliator, I meant stuff like AHA (such as glycolic acid) and BHA. These are chemical compounds that dissolve the bonds between skin cells, so that they slough off properly, revealing fresher skin underneath.

This is an almost exclusively female-focused area of skin care, no wonder you are not familiar with it.

I actually have a physical exfoliant that I use, it has microbeads that scrub off dead, rough skin. But I want to try something else, because my facial skin already feels rough a few days after a scrubbing.
