Dear Raynor, I'm trying to gain weight, I'm 5'9" 165 and I've figured out my calorie intake if I want to consistantly gain is around 3300-3800 a day

But how many grams of protien/carbs should I be taking in?

Supplements I'm on:

Puplre K
Mutant Mass
Fish Oil
GNC Multi-vita mens sport

Thoughts on these? What should I change up?  THanks.

you want at least 250g protein and 250g carbs...the keyword there is AT LEAST.

Secondly...supplements are fine...but also try scifit kre alkalyn 1500

Knee surgery Thursday.

Dr. said i'd be out of work for at least 6 weeks.

Once I get cleared to start working out post physical therapy, what do you think is the best way to ease into things?

Also diet wise I'll be going high protein, moderate fat, low carb while recovering.

I get free food at work, so i like to eat a lot. i'd like to maintain my diet (mix of beef, chicken, pasta, cheese, sweets, eggs). what would you recommend as a workout to drop the excess calories?

i weight 195 lbs, 5'10. i'm getting maybe 100g protein a day, so i dont think i can lift weights to any high degree. would it be jogging or weight lifting or what? my understanding is that building muscle mass will permanently burn more calories even when i'm idle, so i'm guessing lift weights a bit then jogging?

Good luck with the surgery, hope it goes well.

As far as the therapy goes...you would probably be best off doing free range movements with very light weight. Avoid compound lifts. Take into consideration that basic stretching may be good enough on its own to start re-establishing your ROM. Make sure to know your own limitations and avoid putting any unnecessary stress on the knee. DO NOT DO SQUATS. I repeat DO NOT DO SQUATS.

Besides that, I can also advise that swimming is going to be extremely important for you. Not only will it take stress off of the knee, but it will enable you to improve ROM and increase stretch gradually

diet method is correct as well...just remember to feel yourself plenty of cholesterol....that really helps aid in the recovery process

No use...just a leftover from when we all started out as women in the womb....yes that's right...at one point...we all start off with X chromosome and eventually get either another x or a y. (rarely getting a 0 - the absence of a 2nd chromosome). However, the initial x is the beginning of female reproductive traits including nipples.

Just keep using it...the more use, the more calcification and eventually it won't bother you any more.

Also there are shin splint braces that help
