Could be a few things...but it sounds like you are going too heavy if you keep re-injuring the same area. When you are doing that exercise, make sure you are going SLOW and CONTROLLED with no swinging and without using your hips. A lot of people do the leg extension improperly and cause themselves minor injuries as a result.

For now, ice and rest for the next 2-3 days at least.

After 15 years in the gym, I'd be ashamed if I did that wrong
But no, I don't use my hip, and I always go slow and controlled, in any exercise :)

Meh, I'll let them legs rest for a couple of days, then.

Thanks.

Do you suggest that P90X is a worth while workout? I am just really looking for something at home that I can do that involves muscle confusion.

That would be fine.

For pre workout always go with caffeine by itself (like black coffee or plain caffeine pills).

Caffeine pills? really?

never would of thought theyd give you more of a pump or mental focus down the gym, always thought caffeine was bad for you or is that in high doses?

Ah, in that case there are a few things to check out.

There is a possibility that the angle at which your ankle goes during the exercise is causing some ligament or tendon pulling during the extension. When you lay your leg out right now without any weight, do you feel the pain more with the ankle positioned in one way vs the other?

In addition there is the possibility that your knee is actually losing cartilage and can be rubbing against a nerve. This is a VERY common problem especially amongst seasoned squatters.

Get back to me.

It's fine for cardiovascular endurance and conditioning. For strength training it's pretty useless.

Only in extremely high doses is it bad. 200-400mg pre-workout is perfectly safe and gives you tremendous focus.

99.999% of all pre-workout supplements have the main ingredient of....you guessed it...caffeine.

People pay ungodly amounts of money for caffeine with a lot of extra BS. Plain black coffee is perfect imho.

I am 6'3 175 or so give or take 5 pds.

17 yrs old.

I'd like to start taking creatine.

I have come to an understanding that creatine will temporarily water log my body while on it.

I have heard I will gain 5 pds of water weight.

What does this water weight look like?

Try No Doz. Alternatively just look for a plain caffeine pill - any brand is fine.

Whoever told you that has absolutely no comprehension of how creatine works...let alone how water is held and for what purpose.

go here for information on what you should be taking (kre alkalyn)
