alright hyphy you inspired me to take the vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIGfLQxC7Yo

was only going for 1x rep with this but decided after i hit the first one to try for a second.

in a month and a half ive added 20lbs and an extra rep  to my deads, not sure if thats good or not but feelsgood.jpg to me

also try to ignore the loud exhaling... was getting pumped for the lift etc and actually didnt think the camera on my phone would pick it up. also i know the second rep was a bit of a struggle and form wasnt perfect but meh, stilll got it.

oh and next time i will get more of an angle shot on the weights so you can see the plates etc. for some reason i thought straight on would allow people to see the form better etc.. next time ill bring the camera angle to catch a little behind me

Nice lift but ..

Wait till the other guys critique you..

Just my opinion.. Looks like you need to get some Hip drive involved there. It looks like ur straightening out ur legs then pulling the weight up with your back. Needs to be a fluent motion

Pulled 445 today

Horrible form.  Shoulders went in front of bar, threw me off balance.  Rounded my back.  Still got it though

That is quite the back breaker

After seeing a few of these deadlift videos I'd like to mention a trick I use to create a nice firm base for my pulls that you guys may like to try... it's hard to explain but i'll try. When you find your proper positioning with the bar, mixgrip, when you approach the bar to grip it, take your underhand and "scoop" the bar up very tightly like you're ripping the bar while simultaneously positioning your overhand and getting into position in one fluid motion... you'll find that when you scoop the underhand, your body not only finds itself in the natural position for the pull, but you are in a perfectly linear position (aka bar stays at the shins etc).

It's hard to show without being in person, but you'll see how pete kind of scoops up and tears the bar before he lifts, and theres very little setup for the lift, it's already ready to pull.

You have a lot of power from the floor in comparison to your struggle to lockout. Have you considered some rack pulls or GHRs with bands? They'll both help a solid lockout without that hitch. Good lifts anyway. I guess if you're not a PLer I won't comment on the straps :)

I will be a pler in the spring. My grip is catching up. I did 465x5 after this without straps and then 405x8 without straps too. Used to be horrible. Used to struggle to pull 365 without straps

But, I follow what I am told to do to the T, and I was told that rack deads won't do much with the setup of my current routine. It's getting slowly better, but you are right for sure.

I'd venture to day doing some glute-hams with the band would help you immensely. And definitely do a lot of high rep pulling for your grip; I never had problems with my grip because I never used straps but I have definitely noticed that people who started with straps from the start always end up with the grip issues but they correct themselves FAST when someone introduces them to chalk and they start disregarding the straps.
