Lifting according to other peoples level of strength will injure you.
Even if you feel it may make you look like a bitch, lift the lower weights. You don't want to be one of those guys who only comes in once a week because they gas themselves out. Or be that guy that doesn't come back because they're injured.
Gradual progression. Balance.
You give your body time to make physiological changes this way as you gradually increase stress.
