You still need to put the effort in. It's just that you can put much more effort. It is illegal in most countries, but amphetamines and the likes, which are also used in the treatment of AD/HD, are commonly given to special forces because they will simply function better. No one cares about "cheat codes" there because results are results. They may come at a price if used frequently, though as they do have side effects.
The question remains as to why doesn't everyone use them. Perhaps it's cause they're illegal, but the adverse effects are also real and different people benefit at different rates from them.
