I've done it before and it works but... I'd rather just IIFYM. It's difficult to plan your entire week under the assumption you'll have time to eat 2,200 Cal in a short period of time.

Tracking your macros is easy and I've had a much more positive experience with it. IF works for sure but you gotta be consistent and get those high amounts of food in or you won't make any muscular gains at all.

Going to Greg (kinobody)... IF works for him because he is trying to maintain and he is selling something. If his thing was IIFYM or somethang he'd go on about the benefits. The reason why he's so jacked and huge is because he has worked out seriously from like 13 years old.... that's about 13 years to put on serious muscle then cut down by IF.. an average guy cannot build that much muscle with IF (possible but difficult and unnecessary). I respect Greg but don't be fooled you can do what he does and get his body. He works out to maintain not to build anymore. Very different to most people's goals.

I personally believe IF is fine to start out if you are very fat but in the long run IIFYM is the way to go. Fitness and health is a long term goal. Make it as enjoyable as possible. A big thing about IF is that it focuses ALOT of fat burning and little on building muscle. I think you should buy his program (honest) if you are 100% sure IF is the only way for you. If you don't build high amounts of muscle with it you'll become SKINNY FAT and you'll end up having to bulk again anyway.

Edit; read some comments and here is my personal stats.

-Dropped 25lb (a lot of fat but also muscle!!) over 5months.
-weight lifting made almost no improvements. Lifting was NOT a priority

Currently at 145 lbs and will be bulking to 155lb IIFYM
Currently at
115 bench
115 front squat
265 deadrift
95 OHP

Muscularity I got a lot bigger than my IF state but a little bigger. Smalls feel tight but nothing drastic. Better body composition imo.

Currently eating 2600 Cal a day. Eating whatever and whenever I want and I'm not getting fatter just bigger.

Eating 2,200 calories in 8 hours is EASY AS FUCK.

What you said is fucking bullshit. I've become the strongest and biggest I've been in my entire life and I've been doing IF eating 3k+ calories in an 8 hour window. Breakfast alone is 1.5k calories.

That being said, IF is much much easier on a cut and works wonders.

You haven't made gains regardless because

1. You're not working out hard enough (most beginners, like myself, have this problem)
2. You aren't recruiting all your muscle fibers
3.Improper lifting
4. Probably not eating enough , but 2.2k isn't much

I said personal experience wise.
Please read carefully.. I said while I was IF strength gain was not my #1 priority (honestly don't know if I even wrote that..should have..think I did..)

It's a lifestyle choice at the end of the day. I don't want to eat a bunch for breakfast and not go out with friends at night. You don't need to compromise imo and with IIFYM you don't have to. The weight loss is obviously slower in progression but after a week or so it's not even a problem.

I don't want to eat 3,000 calories in one sitting. That's disgusting. Hate feeling bloated. I'm sure it's possible but if I spend my entire day knowing I'm going out on a date I really REALLY don't want to eat 3.000 calories of food at a expensive dinner. That's like 3 chipotles..... this may be inappropriate but having sex after 3 chipotles just sounds like an unpleasant experience.

Edit: I'm not attacking you or claiming anything. I'm just giving my personal experience and just saying IF isn't the only way. Sure you can do it if you wanted but you gotta consider the other aspects of life. Girls like eating brunch lunch dinner and late snacking... I value enjoying my time with others and being carefree about life not eating based off a certain time schedule.

Im not quite sure why you're acting like IF is so bad and hard to do. If anything... it makes life wayyyyyyy easier. I wake up for class later than before because I don't need to make breakfast.

also, your point about going on dates and such...

Just plan accordingly.. if you get brunch and what not, just stop eating earlier than normal for the day..

if you want to go out and party.. keep your caloric intake lower and leave room for drinks. and start eating later than normal

I do a 19/5 fast. I break my fast at 5pm and stop precisely at 10. I am so busy throughout my dad and even work out from 2-4 and mostly don't have problems. Granted sometimes I have shitty lifts, but I think that is because I stopped using pre-workout and amino acids (bc calories and don't want to have any during my fast)

I absolutely loved it.
Fasted from 12am-7pm, 20 hour fast, 5 hours eating
Had no problem getting my calories in or anything.

I only did it for about 2 months or so, then went to school and went back to a normal routine.
But I've been meaning to Intermittent Fast again

Training while fasted ISNT dumb. Your body will still have stored glycogen from the day before , but your body won't be digesting food which will allow your muscles to have more blood and oxygen thus increased performance , not a decrease in performance.

may be personal preference because i disagree. I feel lethargic and weaker, and generally get a shitter pump when i havent carbed up before a workout.

Im aware we have plenty enough glycogen to perform the workout. I just believe it is less efficient.
